Concert Review: The Shins, Minglewood Hall, 5/18/2013

First off, let me commend the city of Memphis for what is shaping up to be the best year of live music the city has seen in years, maybe even decades. Between the big name, stadium shows (Elton John, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake), the enjoyable outdoor shows (Bob Dylan/Wilco/My Read more

Jack Bauer, Michael J. Fox, and Agent Coulson - They're Back!

Jack Bauer and 24 are BACK! I've tried to contain my excitement to just a few social media posts every day. It's been a wild week at work and spending as much time as possible with my new baby nephew Walt, so that's helped distract me from sitting on the couch in Read more

Movie Review: The Great Gatsby

It’s everything you ever dreamed it would be. The elaborate costumes, the overblown sets, the dazzling effects, the quick and furious cuts, the smoothly incorporated soundtrack – all the hallmarks of director Baz Luhrmann are apparent in “The Great Gatsby.” Well, for the first hour, they’re there, at least. Why We Love Baz Luhrmann

“I remember that first scene between Leo and Claire so well. Leo glancing at her through the fish tank. The visuals are so rich, and they were both so young and beautiful. Both were dressed to perfection - Claire’s dress and that armor Leo was wearing. And that song Read more

arrested development posters Netflix Streaming Suggestions Reprise

Alright folks… it’s been a while since I’ve done a Netflix streaming suggestions post so I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been watching lately.

Recently we had Josh Smith drop some wisdom on us about the Netflix original series House of Cards. But I’m admittedly slacking on that series at the moment. I think I’ve watched like 4.5 episodes so far.

Here’s what I have been watching and would recommend: Read more

Friday Night Lights The 30 Minute Time Filler

Shortly after my wife Katelyn and I married we embarked on a journey together with the lovely folks of Dillon, TX. We were there for the wins, the losses, the divorces, the job changes, the births, the break-ups, the deaths, the murders, and the championships that comprised what is maybe the best show of the 2000s, Friday Night Lights. Since both of us worked and had other obligations that required our time, we managed to drag out five seasons of greatness over the span of about 10 months. * Read more

Chances are I’ll end up just going 10 parts to the series. I might expand into just general movies and television suggestions or I might take a break for a while and regroup and maybe do some rankings by genre. If anyone has any ideas for that or would want me/us to do a certain thing feel free to comment and let us know! I don’t claim to be an expert but I do think I have a solid track record of having good taste and lots of free time, so I like suggesting things I’ve enjoyed watching.

Also, if anyone has any Netflix streaming suggestions you think I’ve missed feel free to add them to the comments and maybe next week I’ll have all the readers suggestions. I’ve tried to steer clear from obvious ones and refrain from being like, “OMG who has not seen LOST? It is just the best!” though. Read more
