Movie Review: Fast & Furious 6

How “The Fast and the Furious” franchise is still operational after 12 years is beyond me. The series should’ve crashed-and-burned after 2006’s dreadful third installment, “Tokyo Drift,” which saw the primary cast bail on the fast cars that made them famous. Concert Review: The Shins, Minglewood Hall, 5/18/2013

First off, let me commend the city of Memphis for what is shaping up to be the best year of live music the city has seen in years, maybe even decades. Between the big name, stadium shows (Elton John, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake), the enjoyable outdoor shows (Bob Dylan/Wilco/My Read more

The elaborate costumes, the overblown sets, the dazzling effects, the quick and furious cuts, the smoothly incorporated soundtrack – all the hallmarks of director Baz Luhrmann are apparent in “The Great Gatsby.” Well, for the first hour, they’re there, at least. Regardless, he’s back in America, back to living the summer life of a teacher, and back to spending regular time with Mr. Feeny himself. Enjoy this week’s Feeny Friday from him and, as always, here’s the video if you want to follow along at home… Happy Feeny Friday! Read all the way to the end to read the lyrics of a Jayzor original diddy in tribute to Boy Meets World, which holds a special place in Joseph and Jay’s best friendship as they began their friendship over watching Boy Meets World every Wednesday afternoon together.

Grandma Was a Rolling Stone boy meets world 18999705 800 600 Feeny Friday: Grandma Was a Rolling Stone

After Boys II Mensa aired in the fall of 1993, Boy Meets World took a week off before airing this week’s episode. Just like it did then, I had to take a break from writing Feeny Fridays during law school finals and journal write-on. Every time I sat down to write Feeny Friday, I just imagined Feeny standing there, glaring at me, not even having to speak any words and yet conveying to me a sense of disappointment in my poor prioritization and lack of focus on my studies. With all that done, we can get back to business! And by business, I mean Feeny Fridays. On to this week’s episode… Read more

For the next several weeks, I’m in that terrible time known as law school final exams. While I’ve been blissfully denying any pressure until now, now is the time I have to catch up and prepare. So while I sadly have no time to mine the depths of the next Boy Meets World episode for Feeny wisdom, I can take a much-needed break from the library and find inspiration and motivation from YouTube. So I share with you, this very happy Feeny Friday, some YouTube Feeny highlights. Enjoy! Read more

Cory cheats on an IQ test and decides to run with it. A Mensa representative comes to test him at home, so he finally comes clean to his parents and Feeny.

Before we begin with the episode, let’s just take a moment to appreciate what this episode’s title has for us.

Reference to 1990s R&B boy band? Check.

Allusion to this episode featuring our characters and the high-IQ society, Mensa? Check.

We begin in Feeny’s classroom.  Feeny’s about to pass back book reports. Cory has a red clown nose on and is silently creating antics.  Feeny catches him. Read more

Feeny Friday – “Killer Bees”

Originally Aired: Oct. 22, 1993

Episode Summary: Cory enters a geography bee for a chance to be a bat boy at the World Series. Eric is going to an Aerosmith concert with a date and is embarrassed his mom is going to the same concert.

Mr. Feeny is handing out geography tests to class.  Shocker (said with sarcasm by both me and Mr. Matthews): Minkus gets the highest score.  Cory is frustrated because he got a C.  Mr. Feeny makes a reference to the “current event” that was the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Ahhh… a simpler time. Read more
