I was born and raised in Lakeland, Fl– the 21st largest city in Florida, but its the largest city in the state if you exclude the 20 ahead of it. Lakeland, located in between Tampa and Orlando, is a hotbed of high school football talent. I spent my high school playing days chasing those guys all over the field.
I fled the (perfectly normal?) state of Florida after high school and was the fifth and final member of my family to graduate from the University of Tennessee. I met fellow Wise Guise staffer Clayton Martin in Gibbs Hall, where we started our friendship and also where I started my video game domination over him. After college I lived in Chicago, IL but now I currently live and work in Nashville, TN.
I recently discovered that I have over 60 series recordings on my DVR — which doesn’t include Netflix/Hulu original series — and when I tell people I had a busy week it’s usually because of that. My sports allegiances are the Tennessee Vols, Indianapolis Colts (because of Peyton, and now I’m a fan for the long haul), Orlando Magic (my only hometown area allegiance), Chicago Blackhawks, and the New York Yankees (semi regional allegiance due to Spring Training in Tampa).
I used to say that I’ll mainly write about sports, but it feels wrong to say that when I write 3,000-4,000 words per week about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I know, it’s 1,000-2,000 words too many about a reality show, but I’m doing it for the right reasons.
Always feel free to comment on my writing, but just know that I will take it personally and most likely send an insult your way that will cross the line.
