Suggested Netflix Views – Week 2

Welcome back! Last week I gave you your first five suggestions of things instantly streaming on Netflix. Let me reiterate since there was some confusion, these are not a part of any ranking or in any particular order. I have made a big list and these are just selections from my list. I hope you enjoy these and find something you haven’t seen! If you watch something from one of these lists let me know what you think!

1. The Larry Sanders ShowEasily one of the funniest and most currently underrated shows of the 90’s, The Larry Sanders Show is an older HBO entry that I would highly recommend. It has Garry Shandling, Jeffrey Tambor who you probably know from Arrested Development, Rip Torn, Jeremy Piven and ton of other cameos. Also, it’s one of Judd Apatow’s early projects.

2. Wet Hot American Summer This is a satirical summer camp film with a lot of performances from today’s comedic actors and actresses before they made it big. For example: Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Ken Marino (Ron on Party Down), Amy Poehler, and Bradley Cooper. This is a fun one to watch with friends who have seen it before. It’s a little ridiculous but I think it’s hysterical.

3. Punching the ClownThis is one I recently watched and loved. It’s a smaller comedy filmed in sort of a documentary style about a folk-singer comedian who moves to Hollywood looking to get a record deal and a vicious rumor gets spread about him leading to his demise. It’s a very smart, witty film that is definitely worth checking out.

4. Withnail and I Here’s a British comedy that has a huge cult following. It has one of the smartest scripts I’ve seen in action but it’s got pretty dark humor that’s certainly not for everyone. The story follows a couple struggling actors in the late 60’s trying to get by and dealing with their depression of not getting any acting jobs.

5. Nerdcore Rising If you love to people watch this is a great documentary for you. It’s surprisingly really well made and actually very cleverly funny. I love learning about these bizarre sorts of sub-cultures and so this is one I really enjoyed.

I’ll be back with more next week! If you have seen any of these and would like to share your thoughts feel free to do so below in the comments section! If you are in Memphis and want to see a sneak preview of American Reunion on Thursday night at 7pm at the Paradiso post this article on Facebook and tag The Wise Guise Facebook page! The first person to do so gets two passes!

    Hey nowwwwww

  2. Jake Harper

If you don’t love this film, America is not for you…try Germany. They don’t like humor there, either.
